I just got back from shopping at WalMart. It was pretty much the same as it has been over the past couple of weeks with one subtle change: there were signs on the floor to show directional shopping flow.
I love that idea. It keeps people flowing in a similar direction to other shoppers. That way we have fewer opportunities for people to cross paths. For the most part it worked well, however, a lot of folks didn’t seem to notice what was happening. They just did their own thing, grazing down the aisles like sheep. Completely oblivious to the rest of us who were trying to do the right thing.
Hopefully this idea catches on. It is really more efficient, and I love things that increase efficiencies. So if you find yourself in WalMart, please take a look down at the floor. There are stickers all over to show the desired traffic flow patterns. Stay safe out there folks!
